Whiten Your Teeth, Improve Complexion and Remove Toxins with Oil Pulling

HeadshotI never thought one simple strategy could whiten my teeth, improve my overall skin tone and make me feel so clean. All this was answered with one natural remedy called oil pulling. It sounds off the wall and quite frankly disgusting but it truly works wonders!

Oil pulling is the practice that provides major beauty benefits!! This comes from the Indian Ayurveda practice, which relies on natural ways of healing. The process is very simple. Place one-teaspoon coconut oil in your mouth right when you wake up. Make sure you do this before you brush your teeth or eat/drink anything. Swish it around for 20-minutes then spit it out into a trashcan. Once you have done so, brush your teeth and eat/drink anything you want. The lauric acid found in coconut oil has antimicrobial properties.

This practice was started thousands of years ago to cure the harmful bacteria in the mouth. The mouth is home to thousands of bacteria, viruses and other toxins. The oil is used to clean out these toxins and free the immune system up to focus on healing other parts of the body. We spend less energy on fighting the junk going on inside our mouth and more energy on other parts of the body.

It is a huge benefit for oral care, with results being less plaque and whiter teeth. This process also helps detox the body by removing toxins and promoting a cleaner system. In addition, removing these toxins leads to clearer skin. In order for rapid cell renewal to take place, the body needs to limit the amount of toxins it’s exposed to. By removing the toxins with oil pulling, the body has a chance to repair the skin and boost collagen.

I was skeptical at first, but within a few days of oil pulling I noticed a difference. My teeth were noticeably whiter and my skin looked great. The process definitely took some getting used to. At first it seemed like a long time to swish oil around in my mouth, but I got to the point where I almost forgot I was doing it. I did it as soon as I woke up and then sat at my desk to return emails or write an article. 20 minutes went by in a flash. All you need to do is distract yourself with something productive and the time will be up much quicker.

This process may still seem crazy but it is worth a shot. It cannot hurt and you may see some major beauty/health boosts. I now oil pull every morning and can’t get over how great my teeth and skin look ever since I started!
